Silas Edward King

Silas Edward King went home on Tuesday May 9, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born June 28, 1941 in Toledo to Edward & Grace (Shaw) King.

After high school and college, he served in the U.S. Army. Si worked at GM Powertrain for 40 years retiring in 2016.

He loved dancing at the Islander where he met the love of his life Patricia, whom he married on August 1, 1987 and were together for over 48 years.

Si loved going on vacations and camping, some of his favorite places were Myrtle Beach, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Gatlinburg and white water rafting on the New River. Si was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan.

He also enjoyed working in his yard and his many flower beds.

Si also owned apartments which he would remodel with the help of is nephew and his friends, which is where he met a man which would become one of his best friends, Fred Robinson. Fred became a member of his adopted family.

Si loved meeting new people, they were only a stranger once with him. He loved spending time with his family. One of the highlights was on Christmas Eve, all of his nieces and nephews would gather at his mother’s house and he would take presents over to all of them.

Si preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lila Hamilton, Betty French and Juanita Szutienko; and brother Francis Postell and is survived by his loving wife Patricia; daughters Elska King and Sonya King; granddaughter Indee and grandson Caiden; as well as many nieces & nephews.

His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Wednesday May 17th after 3 PM followed by funeral services and U.S. Army Funeral Honors at 5 PM.
