Marc Zoll Obituary

On Feb. 13, 2020, Marc Allen Zoll transitioned from this life to eternal rest. He was born at Toledo Hospital on Dec. 14, 1958 to Louann (Bordner) Zoll and Paul Zoll. Marc graduated from Whiteford High School in 1976, where he lettered in football.
As a young man, Marc was a lifeguard, which was very characteristic of the way he constantly put others first. He became a welder by trade, and later in life obtained his CDL and started driving truck. He loved to travel the country and sent back pictures of everything from snowcapped mountains to tacky roadside attractions. He really enjoyed the wide-open road but hated the way it took him away from his first love, family.
If you ask Marc what his greatest accomplishments were, he’d tell you without hesitation it was his children. He was the dad all the kids wanted, but only two girls were lucky enough to call their own. He enjoyed introducing Jessica to her love of live music, accompanying her to her first concert... KISS. Through the years if Marc was under a car helping a buddy, Jessica was beside him passing the tools. They also would worship together at Cedar Creek Church, where Marc found purpose in being an usher. Marc loved coaching Katy in various sports, starting with t-ball and softball as a youth, and later Broomball when she was in high school. He beamed with pride at all of her hard work and educational successes, as well as loving to watch her perform in the band. She was a self-proclaimed daddy’s girl from early on. Marc could often be found taking them camping, hosting family bbq’s, or frequenting Oakshade Raceway.
Though being a dad was great, it was as a grandpa Marc shined his brightest. He had 4 beautiful granddaughters- Isabella, Madison, Paityn, and Claire; and one grandson, Ayden. He lovingly referred to his crew as “Hooties Hooligans” and was known to be fond of taking them fishing... or “teaching worms to swim” as he’d say. There was no shortage of dad jokes, and as corny as they were, we will miss them terribly.
Left to carry on his memory are daughters, Katy Rutan and Jessica Spellis, grandchildren Isabella, Ayden, Madison, Paityn, and Claire, siblings Cynthia Phillips and Brent Zoll, first love and best friend Connie Thompson, and furry companion, Zoey. He was preceded in death by parents Louann and Paul Zoll.
Marc will be dearly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him. His never-ending kindness and faith in people, paired with his giving spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Barry. Your help to us all was greatly appreciated.
