Lavern Johnson McGee age 68 passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. Lavern was born June 10, 1954, Dyersburg, TN to Essie Lee Coleman Johnson and Thurmond Clark, step father Curtis L. Johnson. She attended Bruce Elementary & High School. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church, Dyersburg, TN. Lavern married Mr. Jack McGee (deceased). They had one child, Terrence McGee(deceased).
In the nineteen seventies, Lavern relocated to Gary, Ind. where her vocation was a cook. She was a wonderful cook and she love cooking. While living in Gary, Ind, .Our Lord, called her one and only baby boy, Terrence to our heavenly home. Lavern joined our Mother and family in Toledo during the nineteen eighties. Toledo became her home until the Lord called her home.
Lavern loved her family. She was devoted, a wonderful, loving Auntie to all of her many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews. She was a second Mother to all of them. .
Lavern united with Bethel Missionary Baptist for a time. She was an active member in helping with the children ministry, donations, and singing in the choir.
Lavern also attended Friendship Baptist Church with the late Miss Maragret Trust for
prayer and bible study. Lavern united with Cornerstone Baptist Church, Rev. Micheal Pitts, Pastor several years ago. Lavern was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Terrence McGee, sister, Daphne Gail Johnson. Five brothers, Jimmy Lee Johnson, Carther D. Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Robert (Kent)Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Nelda (Melvin) Browning, Marie (Prentice) Edwards of Toledo, Ohio, Anne (Nathaniel) Welch, Dyersburg, TN
Three brothers, James B.Johnson, Billy Joe Johnson, of Toledo, Ohio, Efrem Johnson, Columbus, Ohio and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Saturday, April 13, 2024 after 10 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM with interment to follow at Forest Cemetery.
